The Act of Kindness nomination

Hi friends,
Thank you so much for making your way here. We hope you can help us spread some kindness in the world and help make a writers dream come true.  Read on to hear what we are hoping to achieve with your support.

We have set up our first seven day kindness challenge where we will carry out a different act of kindness every day for the week beginning  on the International Day of Happiness on Monday 20th March 2017 and ending on Sunday 26th March 2017 which is Mothers Day in the UK.   Please check out our Facebook Page or sign up to our mailing list to follow our challenge.

OUR BIG ACT OF KINDNESS for the week is giving away an Indie Author World publishing deal worth up to £2500 to one lucky writer.

We want to support a writer who doesn’t have the funds to self publish their work. One who needs to be read, one who deserves some extra help to get their book out there, someone who is kind and helpful and deserves to have good things happen for them. We want to help someone whose book would not be published without this support. And we would love you to be part of our dream.

About a year after our son Calum’s death, Sinclair decided that life was too short not to do what he loved doing – writing.  He decided to finish a book in honour of our son.  Little did we know that this book (The Reluctant Detective) would change our lives!

Acts of kindness are so powerful.  We received so much love and kindness after Calum’s death it acted as a beacon of light in the darkness.  David R Hamilton PhD wrote about our experiences in his books Why Kindness is Good for You and in his newly published The Five Side Effects of Kindness.  David has issued a  seven day Kindness Challenge in his latest book.

In 2015 we created the Calum Macleod Memorial Publishing Prize – to celebrate what would have been Calum’s 21st birthday.  The competition raised over £2,500 for the Meningitis Now charity and we published the winner – Karin Finegan’s book The Thirteen Stones in 2016.

It seems fitting that almost ten years on from Calum’s passing that we step up in his honour again.

We have decided to take up the kindness challenge and will be carrying out an act of kindness every day for seven days from Monday 20th March 2017. We hope that you might even be encouraged to take part in your own seven day kindness challenge too.

You can support our Act of Kindness challenge in several ways

  • you can nominate someone to receive a publishing prize.
  • you can pledge financial support on our Patreon page where money raised will help contribute to editing costs, book design, publishing and marketing costs for our winner’s book.
  • you can share our message with your friends and colleagues to help us spread the word that kindness makes the world a better place.
  • you could offer some services or help to assist us with this project – just get in touch we’d love to hear from you.
  • you can send us a big hug and a smile.
  • you could donate some cash to Calum’s Forever fund page at Meningitis Now Charity where the donations help raise awareness of meningitis and support people who have been affected by the disease.

    Searching for inspiration

Our Act of Kindness winner will receive a full publishing package with us and like all of the authors that we work with they will keep 100% of their royalty earnings from book sales.  We hope this will give someone a help up to launch their book and writing career.

You can nominate yourself or someone you know to win a full ebook and paperback self publishing deal.  Please  fill in the short nomination form below before midnight (UK time) on Monday 17th April 2017 (Easter Monday).  The writer can be located anywhere in the world and full terms and conditions are listed below.

We will have the tough job of choosing a worthy winner and we will share the journey of publishing the book with everyone who supports this on Patreon.
Thank you.
With love and kindness,
Kim and Sinclair
